In this article, we will talk about what is needed for the data room sheet, its main functions, and principles of work. Use the room data sheet for more comfort in creating your project.

What do you need room data sheets for

The room data sheet is a document that contains all the necessary information about the finishes, fixtures, and fittings, and the mechanical and electrical requirements needed for each department or room in the project.

The data tables are necessary so that the client can notify his requirements in the different rooms of a particular project. They can be distributed by room type or they can contain the requirements for each department separately. These data can also include general information and instructions and are usually prepared first by the client and then accepted and processed by the design team, sometimes with the addition of actual clarifications.

Then these sheets are issued to the contractors along with the drawings and specifications.

How do data sheets help in the design and construction process?

  • These tables are primarily necessary because they notify designers of the general requirements for types of rooms or individual rooms of their clients, bringing these certain clarifications to the work, and ensuring that the designer’s ideas are in line with the client’s requests
  • They help the designers interact with the clients to make sure that they understand all of their requirements, and to explain any details or general provisions. Designers can improve and suggest alternative solutions to situations
  • It also helps the workers to check the requirements to make sure the client is satisfied

Types of RDS: pros and cons

There are several types of RDS and they can be formed in different ways. But in general, the structure of the sheet looks like this: each page contains information about one room, but if the project is large-scale then the information about one room can be contained on several sheets.

Type #1 – since the final result is mainly required in the form of a sheet, some PSD are formed in the program’s processing text. It works in such a way that each user opens a specific sheet and enters the requirements.

Pros:

  • It is the most common, fastest, and simplified way to use these types of documents, users can easily understand how it works and create it

Cons:

  • This type of document has the least compatibility with other technologies and data management

Type #2 – Some RDSs are created as spreadsheets. This allows for efficient data entry and processing and transfers to management. Due to its wide functionality, this type of document can be reformatted into different layouts and also connect the information to other databases.

Pros:

  • You can easily enter and change data, as well as forward information to other data systems

Cons:

  • It is not the only source of information as there may be many copies
  • Data may be hard to read before formatting
